Who we are

A church family in Melbourne

Belview is a historic Baptist church in Izard County. We are a church that exists for the glory of God, to bring Him praise, and to proclaim the Gospel.

Sundays start with coffee and fellowship at 9:30, Sunday School for every age at 9:45, and worship at 10:45. On Wednesday nights during the school year we share a meal before Bible study, youth and Gospel Kids.

Since 1851

Belview began on May 31, 1851, when eleven people met at the home of William and Elizabeth Lawrence. That was before the Civil War. They built a log cabin to worship in, and for nearly a hundred years new believers were baptized in Hurricane Creek. We've worshiped here on Highway 9 and Knob Creek Road since 1992.

What we believe

Good news for everyone

Belview is a Southern Baptist church. We hold to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. Here's what we believe, in a few plain words.

The Bible

The Bible is God's Word. It's true, and it shows us who God is and how to follow Him.

God

There is one God, who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus

Jesus is God's Son. He died for our sins and rose again, and He saves everyone who trusts Him. It's by God's grace, through faith, not by being good enough.

Baptism and the Lord's Supper

Believers are baptized by immersion to show their new life in Christ, and the church shares the Lord's Supper to remember Him.

The church

The church is a family of believers who worship together, care for each other, and tell others about Jesus, here and around the world.
